What do you think? Number 4.

Hideo chose this quote from Aldous Huxley, a famous British author, who wrote such famous works as "Brave New World", "The Devils of Loudon" and "The Doors of Perception"

"Each man's memory is his private literature."

Unfortunately, Hideo didn't give us a comment to start us off. Well, Hideo, what do you think?

Shiori, thanks for starting us off on this topic. I wonder what happened to Hideo and his opening comment.

More fantastic stuff from you all.

I really agree with Kenta that our memories are our 'most important treasure'. As you become older, believe me, they become even more important.

And Yukina is right that 'everybody has their own story and it deserves a name'. It does deserve a name and 'private literature' is a good one. Shiori emphasises this by saying 'it is a private literature'.

Junko tells us that we 'can create our life as we wish' and so indicates her belief in 'freewill' a concept philoshopers have been discussing for hundreds of years.

Kayoko says 'we can never forget'. So true. Unfortunately, it's not just the good things we can never forget but the bad and embarrassing things also; a point Kouichi makes when he says 'Everything a person does will not disappear and it will last forever in that persons mind.'

And Mikiko continues this theme when she asks us if today we are making history.

Hideo seems to take the quote a step further. Cherishing our own memories should help us see that everyone has their own 'private literature' and as such are every bit as entitled to their place on this planet as we are. It does lead to peace.

And as for me, I think that yes everyone's memories are their own private literature. I sometimes wonder, though, if my memories might be better labelled as pulp fiction.
